The Venus-1 well offshore Namibia spudded in late 2021 and was announced as a discovery late February 2022. This discovery, along with the highly exciting Graff-1 well could mark this region as the next exploration hotspot.
Since recording it has been announced "The Venus 1-X well encountered approximately 84 meters of net oil pay in a good quality Lower Cretaceous reservoir."

Venus-1 was drilled in ~3000m of water by TOTALEnergies, along with partners Qatar Petroleum, Impact Oil & Gas and NAMCOR. Here we give a brief overview of the region and the discovery, taking information from TROVE West Africa.
TROVE West Africa contains details of all offshore oil and gas fields and discoveries from Cameroon to South Africa. With information on over 600 assets, this is the most comprehensive technical subsurface database for the West African region. We have several other TROVE databases ensuring complete offshore coverage of the African continent, along with a significant onshore area. See our coverage map here: https://www.1stsom.com/trove
